Introduction

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Sumr (“the App”), provided by Pavel Larionov (“we”, “us”, or “our”). By using Sumr, you agree to these Terms.

Service Types

API Key Users (Non-Subscribers)

If you use your own API key:

  • You connect directly to AI providers (OpenAI, etc.)
  • We don’t store or transmit your API key to our servers
  • You’re responsible for your API costs and usage
  • Core app features are available to you
  • Some premium features may require one-time purchases

Subscription Service

What You Get

  • Development Support: Your subscription primarily supports ongoing app development
  • Summarization Service: As a benefit, we provide AI-powered content summarization at no additional cost per request
  • Usage: Currently unlimited, but we reserve the right to implement reasonable rate limits to prevent service abuse and financial losses

What You Don’t Get

  • Not All Features: Some features may be sold separately as one-time purchases
  • No Exclusivity: Users with their own API keys have access to similar core functionality

Service Limitations

No Guarantees

For all users, we do not guarantee:

  • Continuous service availability
  • Accuracy of AI-generated summaries
  • Factual correctness of outputs
  • Service existence in perpetuity
  • Compatibility with all AI providers (for API key users)

Third-Party AI Services

All users should understand that AI models (OpenAI and others) may:

  • Produce incorrect information
  • Alter facts
  • Generate hallucinations
  • Provide biased content

Liability Disclaimer

NO WARRANTY: The app and service are provided “as is” without any warranties, express or implied.

NO LIABILITY: We are not liable for:

  • False or misleading information in summaries
  • Decisions made based on AI outputs
  • Service interruptions or termination
  • Any damages arising from app use
  • API costs incurred by non-subscribers
  • Issues with third-party AI providers

YOUR RESPONSIBILITY: All users understand that AI-generated content may be inaccurate and should verify important information independently.

Billing and Refunds

For Subscribers

  • Subscriptions are managed through Apple
  • All billing follows Apple’s Terms of Service
  • Refund requests must go through Apple
  • We cannot directly process refunds
  • Cancel anytime through iOS Settings
  • Changes take effect at the end of the current billing period
  • No partial refunds for unused time

For API Key Users

  • You manage your own API provider billing
  • One-time purchases follow Apple’s refund policies
  • We have no access to your API billing information

User Conduct

All users agree not to:

  • Abuse the service with excessive requests
  • Use the app for illegal purposes
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer the app
  • Share subscription access with others (subscribers only)
  • Violate your AI provider’s terms of service (API key users)

Privacy

Your use of Sumr is subject to our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms.

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of new Terms.

Termination

We reserve the right to:

  • Terminate accounts violating these Terms
  • Discontinue the service with reasonable notice
  • Modify or remove features
  • Suspend access for subscribers who abuse the service

For API key users, you may stop using the app at any time by deleting it.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the service provider is located, without regard to conflict of law principles.
